Made with three types of dals (పప్పు) — kandi pappu (toor dal / కందిపప్పు), pesara pappu (moong dal / పెసరపప్పు), senaga pappu (chana dal) — slow-roasted with jeelakarra (cumin) and endu mirchi (dried red chilli). Rich, nutty and filling. No vellulli (garlic / వెల్లుల్లి).

How to Use

Mix into hot annam (rice) with a generous drizzle of neyyi (ghee). Also good on idli (ఇడ్లీ) and dosa (దోస) as a dry chutney. A staple at the South Indian lunch table.
