Avocado toast gets its missing personality from a generous pinch of Toasty Flaxseed Podi — the roasted avise ginjalu (flax seeds) and nuvvulu (sesame seeds) give the soft mashed avocado an earthy, nutty crunch it genuinely needs, while the dried red chilli delivers clean heat that replaces chilli flakes entirely. No cooking, no fuss — just toast, mash, and sprinkle. This is the breakfast that proves a good podi can finish a dish the way nothing else can.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp  Toasty Flaxseed Podi
  • 1  ripe avocado
  • 2 slices  multigrain bread, toasted
  • 1 tsp  lemon juice
  • to taste  salt
  • a pinch  black pepper (miriyalu)
  • a few  coriander leaves, roughly torn (optional)

Method

  1. Toast the bread slices until golden and firm — they should feel sturdy enough to hold the mashed avocado without going soggy.
  2. Halve the avocado, scoop the flesh into a small bowl, and mash it with a fork until you have a rough, textured paste — not completely smooth.
  3. Add the lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and black pepper to the mashed avocado and stir through. Taste and adjust salt — the avocado should taste bright, not flat.
  4. Spread the mashed avocado generously over each slice of toast, going right to the edges so every bite has coverage.
  5. Sprinkle 1 heaped teaspoon of Toasty Flaxseed Podi over each slice — you will see the roasted sesame and flax seeds settle into the avocado, and the dried red chilli will give the surface a faint warm colour.
  6. Finish with a few torn coriander leaves if using, and eat immediately while the toast is still crisp.
