Pizza Seasoning Garlic Bread
Share
Garlic bread made at home should never need a store-bought seasoning sachet. This version uses Herby Spice Blend — basil, oregano, miriyalu, and garlic already ground together — mixed straight into softened butter for a coating that is fragrant, lightly spiced, and ready in minutes. Toast it on a tawa until the edges crisp and the butter melts into the bread, and you will not miss the packet version at all.
Prep: 5 min | Cook: 5 min | Serves: 2 | Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
- 2 tsp Herby Spice Blend (Kitchen Koundinyasa)
- 4 slices bread (thick white or whole wheat)
- 2 tbsp butter, softened at room temperature
- 1 tsp olive oil or any neutral oil
- to taste salt
Method
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the Herby Spice Blend and a small pinch of salt. Stir until the blend is evenly worked through the butter — it should look speckled green and smell immediately of basil and oregano.
- Spread the herby butter generously on one side of each bread slice, covering all the way to the edges so the corners do not stay dry.
- Heat a tawa on medium flame. Add the oil and let it warm for a few seconds.
- Place the bread slices butter-side down on the tawa. Press gently with a spatula so the butter makes full contact with the surface.
- Toast for 2 to 3 minutes until the underside turns golden and the edges begin to colour. You will smell the basil and pepper toasting — that is the moment to take them off.
- Slide off the tawa immediately and serve hot. The butter will have soaked into the bread and the edges should be just crisp. Serve as a snack on its own or alongside a bowl of soup or pasta.
