Herby Spice Cheese Toast
Share
Herby Spice Cheese Toast is the kind of snack that disappears before it even reaches the table. Thick bread, bubbling melted cheese, and a generous dusting of Kitchen Koundinyasa's Herby Spice Blend — the dried basil, oregano, miriyalu, and a quiet kick of red chilli turn an ordinary slice into something you will make on repeat. It is ready in under ten minutes and needs nothing more than a tawa and a lid.
Prep: 5 min | Cook: 7 min | Serves: 2 | Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
- 1.5 tsp Herby Spice Blend (Kitchen Koundinyasa)
- 4 slices bread (white, brown, or multigrain)
- 1/2 cup cheese, grated (processed or mozzarella)
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 small tomato, thinly sliced (optional)
- to taste salt
Method
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place the slices butter-side down on a cold tawa, then turn the heat to low-medium — starting cold helps the bread toast evenly without burning.
- Scatter the grated cheese generously over each slice. If using tomato, lay the slices over the cheese now.
- Sprinkle the Herby Spice Blend evenly across the top — you will smell the basil and oregano as soon as it hits the warm surface.
- Cover the tawa with a lid and let it sit on low heat for 4 to 5 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and the underside of the bread is golden and crisp.
- Slide onto a plate and serve immediately — the cheese should be soft and bubbling at the edges, not rubbery.
